Sparks Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026 · Applies to everyone using Sparks: site owners, editors, and anything published on a site
we host (<slug>.bysparks.net and, later, custom domains). It's part of our Terms.
Sparks is for real people presenting their own real work. Use it honestly.
1. Be yourself, not someone else
You may not use Sparks to:
- Impersonate anyone: build a site about, or pretending to be, a person who hasn't agreed, or suggest you're linked to a person, brand or organisation when you aren't.
- Create or publish AI images of real people without their consent: deep fakes, face swaps, edits of someone else's photo, or images that put a real person somewhere they weren't. Photo edits in Sparks are only for your own photos.
- Upload AI-generated images of people who don't exist presented as real people (for example a fake "team" or fake clients).
- Use someone else's voice, name or likeness to endorse you without their permission.
2. No fake proof
- No fake or invented reviews or testimonials. Every testimonial must come from a real client who said it and agreed to it being shown. Don't write them yourself, pay for them without saying so, or edit them to change their meaning.
- No false claims about your qualifications, credentials, clients, media coverage, results or awards. A client or publication logo in "Trusted by" must reflect a real relationship.
- No misleading endorsements or hidden paid relationships.
3. Respect other people's privacy
- No doxxing: don't publish another person's home address, private phone number, private email, ID numbers, financial or health details, or anything that could expose them to harassment.
- No harassment, threats or hate against any person or group.
- No sensitive data about others (health, sex life, beliefs, criminal records) without a lawful basis and their consent.
- Your visitors' data: use contact-form messages and subscriber lists only for the purpose people gave them to you, and keep them confidential.
4. Nothing illegal or harmful
You may not publish or link to:
- content that is illegal where you or your visitors are, or that infringes copyright, trademarks or other rights (including photos you don't have the rights to);
- sexual content involving minors (reported to the authorities), or sexually explicit content;
- content promoting violence, terrorism or self-harm;
- scams, pyramid schemes, get-rich-quick or misleading financial offers;
- sales of weapons, drugs, counterfeit goods or anything else prohibited by law or by our payment provider's rules;
- medical, legal or financial claims your profession's rules don't allow.
5. Newsletters and email
- Opt-in only. Email only people who signed up through your site's form (double opt-in) or who clearly agreed to receive your newsletter. Sparks only sends to confirmed subscribers.
- No purchased, rented, scraped or borrowed lists, and no importing contacts who didn't agree.
- Every email includes an unsubscribe link (we add it) and your identity; don't remove or hide them.
- No misleading subject lines or sender names.
- Keep within your plan's sending limit (beta: 200 emails a month). High bounce or complaint rates may pause your sending.
- Don't use the contact form or any Sparks feature to send messages to people who didn't ask for them.
6. Don't abuse the service
You may not:
- probe, scan or test the security of Sparks or other customers' sites, or try to get around limits, access controls, the one-free-trial-per-person rule, or the badge where your plan includes it (if you've found a security issue, please report it to privacy@bysparks.com instead, and don't access other people's data);
- access data or accounts that aren't yours;
- upload malware, phishing pages or code designed to harm visitors;
- overload the service, scrape it, or use bots to create accounts;
- use Sparks' AI features to produce content for anything other than your own Sparks site, or to build a competing product;
- resell or white-label Sparks without our written agreement.
7. No selling through Sparks
Sparks doesn't process payments for your customers and isn't a marketplace. You may not use Sparks to take payments or run a shop through us. You may link to or embed your own third-party booking or payment pages (for example Calendly, Cal.com, or your own Stripe or PayPal link); those transactions are only between you, your client and that provider.
8. Reporting abuse
See something on a Sparks site that breaks this policy, uses your photo or work without permission, or exposes your private information? Email support@bysparks.com with:
- the site address and the page;
- what's wrong (and, for copyright, proof that you own the work or act for the owner);
- how to reach you.
We aim to reply within 1 business day and act quickly on clear cases. Privacy and security reports can also go to privacy@bysparks.com.
9. What we do about it
Depending on how serious it is, we may:
- ask you to fix it;
- remove the image, page or content (and tell you);
- pause newsletter sending;
- hide or suspend your site;
- close your account, and refuse future sign-ups;
- report illegal content to the authorities.
In urgent or serious cases we act first and tell you after. If you think we got it wrong, reply to our email and a person will review it.
